Ryu Goto
Japanese-American Ryu Goto made his debut at the age of
just 7 at the Pacific Music Festival in Japan performing
Paganini’s First Concerto. Now 24 and a superstar in Japan,
he has already performed with the London Philharmonic
and Philharmonia Orchestras, the Washington National
Symphony, Bamberg Symphony, Vienna Symphony and the
European Union Youth Orchestra under conductors
including Vladimir Ashkenazy and Myung Whun Chung.
Next season he will perform Paganini’s First Concerto with
the Munich Philharmonic under Lorin Maazel. His
recordings for DGG include the Brahms Violin Concerto
conducted by Ashkenazy. Ryu Goto has a BA degree in
physics from Harvard University and a black belt in karate.
He performs on the 1715 Stradivarius known both as the
Ex-Pierre Rode
and the
Duke of Cambridge
on loan to him
from the Japanese non-profit organisation
